Lingayen- – – “This is governance, this is not politics.” Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan directly stated before members of the local media during the press conference held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) Administration Building, today, August 28, referring to the allegations raised by Cong. Victor Agbayani.
Baraan made this statement in answer to one of the false accusations made by Agbayani on the issue that Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. being a ‘nevernor’ as he added that the governor is doing his best to attend to all the needs of every barangay in Pangasinan.
“All they have to do is to write and send their resolutions to the provincial government and the governor will answer all their requests,” Baraan said as he was likewise quoted as saying, “barangay officials are not beggars who come to Urduja and line up for petty request,” the provincial administrator said pointing out that what the governor wants to instill in the minds of the Pangasinenses is strictly cultural reform that must start with self-respect and dignity.
The governor, according to Baraan, is not a ‘nevernor’ because he is the one who goes out of his way to personally meet the people as proven by his recorded visits in the provincial government-owned hospitals and agricultural field stations.
As to the update of the investigation of buried medicines, PDCC Executive Paterno Orduna said that continuous investigation is being conducted by the Ombudsman. Administrative case on the people responsible will first be filed followed by criminal charges.
Orduña said that this will involve long and tedious process but the Office of the Ombudsman is exerting all efforts to ferret out the truth and eventually serve justice.
Such is the case involving seven erring provincial health employees facing administrative charges for dishonesty where justice will be served in due time.
Towards this end,Governor Espino welcomes the idea of any candidate who will ran for governorship in the coming 2010 election.
“Matalino ang mga botante. Alam nila kung sino ang karapatdapat na iboto. Nakikita nila kung ano ang ginagawa ng mga namumuno at alam nila kung sino ang tunay na nagsisilbi. At hindi natitinag si Governor Espino,” Col. Orduna said.
The provincial government is exerting all efforts to implement various programs that will benefit the people specifically in the field of agriculture, health, employment opportunities, affordable housing, education, sports and youth development, environment, tourism, peace and order and even mega infrastructure projects.
In the field of agriculture, Baraan disclosed that the provincial government is gearing towards an improved agriculture in the coming years.
“It is one of the goals of the provincial government to enhance Pangasinan agriculture which initially started with the upgrading of its various support facilities so that we can have the capability to educate our farmers with proper agricultural technology,” the provincial administrator stated as he further stressed that “Pangasinan has the potentials to become the best in the country given the proper technology and if driven by a leader who is determined to go for the best.” (PIO/Ruby R.
