Lingayen- – –Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. vehemently denied the malicious news that circulated in the media circle that he suffered from heart attack on Monday morning (June 25), Philippine time.
In an interview via phone patch with veteran journalist Rhee Fer Hortaleza, the Governor assured that he is in top shape and he is not sick even as he said that he will be back in Pangasinan in a week.
“Kung sino man ang namumulitika diyan sa mga kalaban ko sa pulitika who played their games very dirty uulitin ko na huwag naman nilang gawin yan kasi pare-pareho naman tayong Pangasinense. They should not be cruel kasi may pamilya din sila,” the provincial chief executive cited.
The governor also said during the interview that he is in New Jersey and that he is heading for Los Angeles the following day to visit Da Vita Corporation which was set to donate another two units in addition to the 12 dialysis machines already granted for the Dialysis Center in San Carlos City.
Gov. Espino left the country on June 9 for the United States on official travel. On June 12, he represented the province of Pangasinan in the Independence Day celebration at Seattle, Washington and visited other states upon invitation of Pangasinan communities for various speaking engagements there.
Provincial Administrator Rafael Baraan, on the other hand, said that the “news is utterly false and smacks of premature and dirty politics.”
Baraan confirmed that he talked with Gov. Espino over the phone at the time the malicious news cropped up to discuss the rest of their USA trip to touch base with various US-based Pangasinan associations and province’s benefactors.
Meanwhile, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Alfonso Bince, Jr. condemned the malicious text message as he further dubbed it as “satanic.”
Bince called on all SP members to unite and come up with something that should deter and avoid such transmission of malicious text messages.
Said text message has originated from cellphone number 09198236252 which reads:“Please offer a prayer for the quick recovery of our Governor, Governor Amado T. Espino who suffered a heart attack for two hours ago and he is considered in critical condition. We are asking for your full support and prayers. We will update you of his status soon — From Espino Family.”
The governor is expected to be back in the country on July 1. (PIO/Ruby R. Bernardino)
